LONG ISLAND releases powerful commentary on gaslighting with evocative new single, average

Setting the tone with textured drums, LONG ISLAND open average with assertive lyricism and a signature Brit-pop accent, as lead singer Rhiannon Stephenson shares the prose, “You, you always chat shit, it’s all manipulative, boy just get a grip. You, you’re always wasting time, I can’t believe you’re wasting mine…”

The opus expands into an anthemic, alternative rock-pop fusion energy as the Huddersdield band share evocative lyricism about “being gaslit throughout a relationship”, and a cohesive soundscape designed to “push the boundaries of indie-pop”.

We appreciate the authenticity that LONG ISLAND share with their sound, and are in love with their charismatic delivery. We learn that the band also includes guitarist and vocalist Cameron Conner, bassist Paddy Spence-Lewis and drummer Jan van Beem, as well as Rhiannon Stephenson delivering her intricate words and charm.

It is no surprise that the band has amassed a tonne of support from outlets including the BBC, Amazing Radio and CLOUT. They have been playing gigs around the Yorkshire area, and confess that the show “no signs of slowing down.”

average is taken from their upcoming debut album infatuation a nightmare and was selected as a single due to becoming a fan favourite at their recent string of gigs.

We love what LONG ISLAND are creating, and have added average to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream their wider discography including their first two singles, broken and blissful satisfaction.
