We recently featured TATE SEDAR when he shared his thought-provoking and inspiring visual for Find a Way, so when we heard that the rising star had just released a cover of Justin Bieber‘s Hold On – the TATE SEDAR Remix For Ukraine, we couldn’t wait to experience it.
Drawing us in with cerebral crowd sounds and a dimensional riser, TATE SEDAR opens his remix of Justin Bieber‘s Hold On with signature atmospheric vocals and the moving opening lines of the song, “You know you can call me if you need someone, I’ll pick up the pieces if you come undone…”
The music video opens with a warning of graphic content as it features footage from the war in Ukraine. We see news coverage, silhouetted images of soldiers with guns and smashed cars, all intercut with footage of Justin. The visuals of destruction and evacuated children are haunting, whilst the edit of the video is emotive and epic.
TATE SEDAR‘s remix explodes with a vibrant EDM energy that gives us a sense of optimism, juxtaposed with the alarming state of the world. We appreciate how he has sampled Justin’s vocal to create a dynamic energy with the soundscape. The overall experience is explosive and simultaneously heart wrenching.
Anticipation builds with an evocative synth, taking us to another dimension despite the destruction that we are witnessing on screen. The visual and remix are designed as a call of action to encourage viewers and listeners to donate funds for humanitarian aid in the country, especially during the winter season where they are experiencing constant power outages cutting them off from heat and electricity.
You can DONATE to the humanitarian fundraiser Razom for Ukraine this winter, also linked in TATE SEDAR‘s Instagram or other related causes at http://defendukraine.org/donate.
