Setting the tone with a pulsating beat and clicks, with a dimensional synth, SKYCABIN open Pyro with atmospheric vocals and situational, yet metaphorical lyrics.
The opus expands into a dynamic, avant-garde electronica energy as SKYCABIN showcase their charismatic delivery, intricate soundscape and luscious strings arrangement, laced with poetic nuance and intricate detailing.
We appreciate the narrative-driven journey that the Californian duo, comprised of artists Farbod and Sepand, takes us on. They create a cohesive tapestry of sound, fusing genre expansive elements, spanning alternative electronic, trip-hop, alternative R&B, and the avant-garde. We learn that Pyro is the first of a series of songs which establishes the vibe and theme of their EP SOMNIA, by “telling a story of a man who sets a town on fire.”
SKYCABIN confess that the composition is also about “societal angst and neurotic conversations that shapes in one’s mind in reaction to it.” Pyro comes with an evocative and hypnotizing animated visual, which depicts “a shepherd with a pyramid head setting fire to a forest full of ghoulish creatures.” We also love the single art which shares the same creative, and the overall attention to detail that the pair deliver with their artistry.
It is no surprise that SKYCABIN are already establishing a cult following on streaming platforms, and that their music video for Nerve was theatrically premiered in LA shorts film festival and Portland film festival this year.
The upcoming EP, SOMNIA will feature six songs released periodically like TV show episodes with complimenting visuals that “develop a story full of mysteries, enigmas and surreal themes.”
We love the hyperreality universe that SKYCABIN are creating, and we have added Pyro to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we stream Nerve and anticipate their upcoming EP, SOMNIA.
