Setting to the tone with an immersive guitar soundscape with luscious strings, generating an enigmatic sense of nostalgia, Fermata Caesura open Empty Promises with intrigue and dimensionality.
The opus expands into a cinematic, chamber folk energy with atmospheric vocals and metaphorical lyricism as the band from Wisconsin takes us on a transcendental trip with evocative prose and poetic prowess.
Fermata Caesura describe Empty Promises as “a fever dream detailing the disintegration of a relationship.” The track asks the meaningful question, “Are we ever more than when we began…”
We deeply appreciate the dynamic nature of the track sharing an insight into the minds and spirits of the creators, with textured harmonies and an outstanding, orchestral instrumental performance.
Fermata Caesura is comprised of Lisa on vocals, Cody on upright bass, Eli delivering guitar, and Thillman on cello. We learn that the foursome met through an advert that Eli placed on Craiglist.
They have a shared admiration for artists like Edgar Allan Poe, John Denver, Fleetwood Mac, Radiohead, Bon Iver, Iron and Wine, and The Civil Wars, but it is clear that Fermata Caesura (which translates as: prolonged pause) are creating a universe of their own. Their intention is to “take listeners on a musical journey while showing them they are not alone in this life that can at times seem bleak and filled with loss.”
We have added Fermata Caesura‘s magnetic and immersive Empty Promises to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream their wider discography including Instinct As Eyes.
