TerraTara takes us on an introspective trip with new single, Empty Apartment

This Summer, we featured TerraTara for her hypnotizing single, A Love, Tantalize, so when we heard that the talented and vibrant soul had just released the brand new, Empty Apartment, we couldn’t wait to experience it.

Drawing us in with intricate acoustic guitar, conga and a luscious harmonica, TerraTara opens Empty Apartment with charisma and the situational lyrics, “I was sitting by myself, at the bus station, and all I had were the memories of my companion, let me tell you, thinking of you is all I do, baby I’m taking the next train home to you…”

We immediately think of Bob Dylan in terms of sonic style and TerraTara‘s brand of storytelling, and this only makes us fall deeper in love with the artist.

She tells us poetically that the opus is about “being all alone, feeling empty, losing another lover, leaving town [and] going on the road… Traveling with guitar, being broke, busking on the street, hustling, meeting more lovers  on the road, and no matter where you go, they’re all the same… Being In a circle of smokers and tokers and drinkers, and the days feel the same…”

We also learn that the song was recorded by Kyra Soko in 1999, in Argenta as an analog recording, and has been re-mastered by Fullersound in 2022. We appreciate the depth, vulnerability and lyrical prowess that TerraTara shares, fused with her cohesive tapestry of sound.

TerraTara‘s authenticity is tangible and her energy is conscious and timeless. Empty Apartment has been added to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream TerraTara‘s wider discography including Waiting for the Rain.
