Setting the tone with industrial electric guitar and a textured drum riff with a dimensional bassline, Dirty Mitts open My Show with situational and metaphorical lyricism as they take us on a journey through their psyche.
The opus expands into a luscious hybrid-rock energy, and we learn that “My Show was written in the dark ages of [the] first lockdown.” Dirty Mitts features Tommy as lead singer), Matt on bass, Mo on both guitars, and Mateusz on drums. The band members hail from the UK, Poland, and Egypt, and were brought together in 2018 by “a love of loud, old school Rock’n’Roll.” Dirty Mitts self-describe as “music that is boiling over with unashamedly bluesy, retro, raw, energy”, and we are inclined to deeply agree.
With reference to the themes of My Show, Tommy and Mo, who are the founding members of the band were “dreaming of a better time and gigging to large audiences!”. They confess, “This is when we decided to put pen to paper and make the dream a reality with a high energy opening song welcoming everybody to My Show.”
Harnessing the power of manifestation for the single, there is no doubt that Dirty Mitts are well on their way to realizing their ambitions. The band elaborate with depth and tell us, “The song is about freedom ‘horses are running free’, and enjoying the moment ‘light it up here we go’, which was desperately needed at the time. We wanted to create the feeling of breaking out and the buzz of something happening that everyone needs to participate in… which for us will always be a rock concert!”
