Setting the tone with fierce electric guitar soundscape with high octane drums, Signal Static opens Objects of Affection with the assertive lyrics, “It was a vicious little scene, planted in a time of need, it wasn’t your first time taking advantage of a trusting mind, but that’s how predators succeed…”
The opus expands into a thought-provoking and wisdom expansive journey in the the spirit and mind of the band, and we are obsessed. We learn that Signal Static‘s music is designed to “emphasize honesty, openness, and humanity in the face of uncertain circumstances.”
We appreciate the intention that they share with their conscious art, as they ask the question through their body of work, “What does it mean to be human? And, more importantly, what does it mean to be a good human?”
Objects of Affection tackles the themes of relationship abuse, Signal Static tell us they are “unabashedly calling out predators for what they are and uniting behind survivors to send a pointed message that needs to be heard and understood.”
They cite artists such as Chevelle, Tool, Muse, Queens of the Stoneage, and Pendulum, as influences, although it is clear that Signal Static is creating a universe of their own.
We have added Objects of Affection to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream the band’s wider discography including Life Will Prevail and Blinding Lights.
