Setting the tone with a vinyl texture and dimensional, panning synthscape, Obscenity State opens Moke Lake with intrigue and dynamism. The opus expands with bright high synths, a pulsing beat and textured riser before expanding in a transcendental energy which feels like a futuristic 8-bit trip through the universe.
The composition is laced with intricacies, but holds our attention with the main synth components that drive the high octane vibe that Obscenity State is creating with her debut single.
We learn that Moke Lake is designed to help us explore “self-discovery through the merging of sound and vision”, and comes with a an out-of-this world 3D visual created by Obscenity State‘s Nilly Brook, which literally blows our mind.
We deeply appreciate the psychedelic trip that Obscenity State takes us on, weaving in the “evocative chants of a Persian Avaz master, a female performer prohibited from singing in public since the revolution of ’79.”
Obscenity State, who is of Iranian heritage herself, stemming from a persecuted minority, is building her sonic and visual universe to “reflect her sense of isolation and driving determination to confront revolutions past and present through the exploration of new identities.”
We are here for Obscenity State authenticity and multi-platform talent, and have added Moke Lake to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we anticipate further releases from the rising visionary.
