We recently featured littleuniverses as she took us on a full circle and expansive journey with her moody and self-actualized EP, Corners, so when we saw that she had just released the brand new single, Sword, we couldn’t wait to experience it!
Drawing us in with an industrial guitar soundscape with intricate melodic detailing and a rising, pulsating synth, littleuniverses opens Sword with atmospheric vocals as she sings, “The link that you sent me
leads to another me, the goddess with a sword, sketched me then coded me, in your captivity…”
We can always count on littleuniverses to bring to life her metaphorical constructs with poetic prowess, and that is exactly what she does with Sword. Speaking on the release, littleuniverses confesseses, “Sword is a love story about someone who fetishizes the digital version of their muse but continues to yearn for their muse in their true human form.”
The rising artist from Montréal, Canada continues, “As much as tech enhances facets of our lives, there is nothing that can substitute human touch. I have seen people become incredibly sexually attracted to something that is not real and be in a state of dissatisfaction. I am led to believe that only human interaction can completely satisfy human desire.”
Sword comes with an evocative music video featuring sci-fi scenes that bring to life the narrative of the opus, and littleuniverses‘ performance has us completely mesmerized!
We love the depth that littleuniverses creates with and the sonic landscape of Sword is certainly akin to Depeche Mode, but there is no doubt that the artist is creating a dimension of her own.
We learn that Sword is taken from littleuniverses‘ self-titled album, due for release on February 10. Sword has been added to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream littleuniverses‘ wider discography including Broken Dreams and Getting By.
