Setting the tone with an enigmatic riser, textured drums, vocal add libs and intricate keys, Xander Moon opens Hi – Fives with atmospheric vocals and situational lyrics.
The opus expands into an emotive and authentic indie-pop energy, as Xander Moon recounts a “story about how to deal with a love affair which did not work out and how to get through it.”
Speaking on the release Xander confesses that Hi – Fives is about “The frustration, the sadness, the despair and in the end the relief, because you often do not realize how much pain it causes to yourself and how much it consumes. So in the end you try to forget and lift yourself up.”
We appreciate the poetic prowess, vocal range and vulnerability that Xander Moon delivers with this intimate tale. The rising artist from Austria tells us, “I went through a long love-breakup-frustration period. I know it is kind of cliché and a little bit corny, but that is what made me do this song.”
Xander Moon, who is also known as Simon Nagl is a multi-disciplinary creator and performs bass, keys, vocals, drum and guitar processing, as well as producing, writing, mixing and mastering the composition. Speaking on his ambitions he says, “I am definitely looking forward to record music in a professional studio.”
The artist cites Frank Ocean, Joji, Kenna, Kendrick Lamar, Sam Smith, and Prince as some of his influences, although it is clear that Xander Moon is creating a universe of his own.
We have added the emotive Hi – Fives to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we stream his two other releases from earlier this year, Ordinary Life and Apartments.
