Galactapus returns with trippy and subversive new visual and single, The Lustful Arts

We recently featured the enigmatic collective, Galactapus for their intense and cerebral video, Waking The Troll, so when we saw that they had just released The Lustful Arts, we couldn’t wait to explore!

With a genius, layered visual intro that features a spectrum of hands tapping on what appears to be brain tissue, accompanied by intricate and mysterious acoustic guitar, and featuring a mysterious masked member of the band, we are immediately hooked by The Lustful Arts.

The dimensional visual expands with eyeballs in their sockets, embedded into a singing rock, before we see the band perform on a what appears to be planet Mars. Subversive vocal delivery and cosmic visuals that feature warped pigs heads on humans, astral figures and further dimensional nuances draw us in further as Galactapus continue their adventure.

The five-headed garage-prog animal from Minneapolis, who are releasing their second full-length album The Rainbows Of Wrong confess, “At best there are a handful of ways to do something right, but a breathtakingly vast and beautiful spectrum of ways to do it wrong.”

We appreciate the distorted energy fused with folk-esque strings which add a sense of drama to the opus. The band members remain nameless and faceless, and we learn that for reasons of privacy and safety, Galactapus has so far refused any live appearances.

Even though the band has been compared to Residents, Can, Chrome, and Sun City Girls among others, Galactapus debate this as they are resolute in only producing “stand-alone music with a compelling reason to exist.”

The Rainbows Of Wrong will be available on January 13, 2023 at galactapus.com, Bandcamp and other major streaming services, meanwhile we have the video for The Lustful Arts on a cerebral loop!
