Setting the tone with an immersive, arpeggiated synthscape, Thy Viels open Influx with intrigue, dimensionality and a pulsing beat. The opus expands with atmospheric vocals, into an avant-garde, electronic pop energy and we are hypnotized.
We appreciate the poetic prowess of the piece, and the dynamic nature of the production as vocalist Maria Hojda delivers metaphorical constructs as she sings, “Heart is like the moon, bright in the deep green pool, nothing can compare with it, you tell me how this can be…”
We learn that Thy Veils is one of Romania’s most innovative and prolific groups, and that Influx is designed “as a call to unity and an invitation to a new togetherness.” The opus is part of Thy Veils‘ upcoming studio album Next Forever, and is described as “a funk-infused forward-thinking celestial and supersonic trip through space and time.”
Founder of the band, and lyricist Daniel Dorobanțu confesses with depth, “Influx is “about us all, because it’s about our collective consciousness – what we all feel, desire, experience, dream, remember and envision.” Lyrically, the song find a balance between the wisdom of legendary zen poet Han Chan (Cold Mountain) and Daniel Dorobantu’s transcendental poetics.
We love the ethereal nature of Influx and the cosmic and conscious depth that Thy Veils share with their artistry. The soundscaping is out of this world, further adding to the intention of the composition.
It is no surprise that Thy Veils’ live events are immersive audio-visual shows, “transporting the auditorium towards the worlds within and the unfathomable depths of empathic comprehension and contemplation”, which feels highly aligned with their sound.
We have added Influx to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream Thy Veils’ wider discography including Secrets and Neoradiant!
