Romain Gutsy delivers ode to love and loss with powerful and playful new single, The Girl From Kerry

If you thought the year was over for Romain Gutsy, think again! Following the brilliant release of If You Don’t Mind, the talented artist has just released a brand new single, The Girl From Kerry!

Drawing us in with nature and city sounds, Romain Gutsy opens The Girl From Kerry with charm and situational lyricism as he sings, “She was a girl from Kerry, that I met in Dublin city, I was a guy from Paris that she met in Dublin city…”

Delivering character with passionate add libs, banjo and self commentary as he re-thinks his own lyricism, the charisma that Romain Gutsy shares with his tale is tangible. Although, what starts as a romantic tale featuring sex in a shrub with a fiery red head and expands with love, sadly end as his muse dies of a fever. We share in the artist’s mourning and the playful catharsis that the opus offers as he dances with her ghost in Ireland.

We learn that The Girl From Kerry is produced by Romain and his frequent collaborator, Marc Bentel, after being written by Romain in Dublin in May 2022. We appreciate the expansive, folk-blues vibe and the organic energy which Romain confesses, “tells a very sad story without any sadness, with a kind of second degree that will help you dealing with the harsh part of life.”

Romain Gutsy‘s warm and distinctive and authentic voice gives us that sense of familiarity and hope, although we do learn a lot from the profound tale. We have added The Girl From Kerry to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream Romain Gutsy‘s wider discography.
