We recently featured Luego as he tapped into trauma to deliver the cathartic, FOUR MINUTE MILE, so when we heard that he had just released THE VORTEX, we couldn’t wait to experience it!
From an album of the same name, THE VORTEX opens with pitched and dimensional vocals as Luego sings with introspection and wisdom, “I can’t explain, my whole history, wasn’t so long ago, stop holding so tight, just get yourself free, this ain’t no place to be…”
The opus gives great context to the divorce record, with perspectives on freedom and personal boundaries. Speaking on the meaning, Luego confesses, “As a human I completely lost myself in a toxic marriage that ended quickly.”
We adore the visual which features choreography from Molly Cortez and an incredibly hypnotizing performance from our protagonist and Moonlight Dance Entertainment Co, as they bring to life the emotions of the composition.
We appreciate the depth and vulnerability that Luego shares with his artistry and the record as a whole. It is not easy to go through something as intense as a divorce, but the freedom and catharsis that Leugo manifests with his art is tangible and healing.
Elaborating on what inspires him at the moment, Luego references “Alchemy”, he elaborates that his art is “Turning Pain into Beauty. Turning Trauma into something beautiful. The healing journey one goes through from absolute worst to triumphant, my absolute best.”
Anecdotally, he adds, “2022 has been my year. I grew my hair out, got a sleeve tattoo, bought a house, released my sixth studio album and two sick music videos as my crowning achievement.” We have added THE VORTEX (single) to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream the entire album!
