Dax takes us on a trip through his mind with powerful new single and visual for Depression

It has been an incredible year for Dax, full of outstanding personal and career achievements, including, but not limited to the releases of Dear Alcohol and his powerful opus and iconic visual about society’s obsession with instant gratification, Searching For A Reason.

So when we heard that he had just released, Depression, we were curious to hear the extension of one of our favourite rising artist’s narrative. Depression draws us in with a charming and enigmatic guitar soundscape, with textured beats before a riser leads us to Dax as he sings emotively, “I can’t find myself, I get lost inside my brain, think I might need help…”

Speaking succinctly on the release, Dax confesses that Depression is a “personal song I wrote about the ups and down I experience.” We always love and appreciate the way that Dax conveys his emotions, and this is no exception!

Depression comes with an incredible music video which opens with Dax trapped in a storm on a ship before it cuts back to 48 hours earlier, taking us on a journey through Dax‘s mental health, his encounters with people and his paranoia. The video is brilliantly inspired by The Truman Show with the final scene unveiling that all is not as it seems!

Speaking on the though process behind his current releases including Dear Alcohol, Dax says, “Quitting alcohol rushed in new emotions that I think inspired this record. No longer drowning my thoughts forced me to deal with certain issues head on.”

We are always grateful for the depth and courage that Dax shares with his visionary artistry, and have added Depression to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream his wider discography!
