Vintage vocals and metaphorical lyrics expand into clarity, as our protagonist leads with the title of the track “Neon Love, will entice you with it’s shine…”, with an incredible timbre that has us melting immediately.
Detailing his metaphorical mindset, A.P. Michaels tells us, “I liken love in this track to a neon sign, something that, while beautiful and enticing, leaves the all too eery radiant hum beneath its appearance.”
A.P. Michaels confesses that the opus was written in a tumultuous period of his life, “at the apex of my frustration with romantic pursuits.”
He elaborates with passion in reference to his polished artistry, “I was tired of the all too often unrequited, imbalanced, or abusive relationships I had found myself in and I needed to use a Blues Rock influence to encapsulate that slow build. It’s rhythmic and steady, and makes you think that everything sonically will be okay.”
We appreciate the authenticity and vulnerability that A.P. Michaels shares, laced with poetic prowess, incredible vocal range and luscious harmonies and chorals.
The build and chorus are literally out of this world, with guitar and his vocals cosmically intertwined, and a distorted second verse moment which keeps us on our toes, there is no doubt that A.P. Michaels is one of the greatest artists one could experience.
Neon Love, which comes in at over five minutes (a lengthy rarity today), is worth every second, and has us reaching for the repeat button.
