Setting the tone with a sharp breath, TAB open Keep It Simple with atmospheric vocals, introspective lyrics and an immersive and intricate soundscape. The opus expands into a luscious and dimensional universe, and we are in awe. We appreciate the poetic prowess of the lyricism and the incredible vocal range exhibited by TAB, and how their voices merge together to create a cohesive tapestry.
We learn that TAB is a brand new Icelandic pop band and that Keep It Simple is their debut single. The band cite influences of “90s dance music and millenial pop, with strong undercurrents from modern day electro pop bands.” We feel these references, and how they transmute into the composition, but there is no doubt that TAB are creating a sound of their own.
Speaking on the meaning of the song, TAB confess, “[Keep It Simple] refers to the endless rat race and complications of everyday life that can make everything seem quite overwhelming at times – but what’s better than taking a deep breath and dancing your worries away?”
They expand, “The lyrics were written during the COVID-19 pandemic, when people were forced to simplify their lives whether they liked it or not. Some people experienced a strong sense of freedom by slowing down and the lyrics contemplate if simplicity might be the cure we all need to tackle modern day life.”
We love the intention that Arna Run Omarsdottir, Bjartmar Thordarson and Tinna Kristinsdottir share with their artistry and powerful, evocative debut. The end product was made in partnership with producer Bomarz, also known as Bjarki Omarsson.
We have added Keep It Simple to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we anticipate further releases from the talented trio!
