Establishing the mood with an immersive soundscape, and a narration with the iconic words of Gil Scott-Heron, “We must rebel to stay alive, the revolution will not be televised…”, DOVE-i and Rioux V open their collaborative single, aptly titled, THE REVOLUTION with drama and dynamism.
The opus expands with and exquisite rap performance by Miami rapper, Rioux V, supported by at the orchestral production of DOVE-i as they deliver a commentary on racism with intricate flow.
The cinematic energy is tangible, akin to a Spike Lee film, and we are in awe of the sound design from the French Musical Collective based in Paris, known for their cine-symphonic energy.
Early Kanye West fans will be able to relate to THE REVOLUTION and Rioux V‘s flow sonically, although the conscious energy that the collective exudes is profound.
THE REVOLUTION comes with a dramatic and moving music video which features incredible, choreographed performances from the Lemonade Dance Company. Born of a desire to meet with others and swap ideas, we learn that DOVE-i is a musical collective bringing together talents from every horizon to develop unusual artistic projects that pack a powerful emotional punch.
As an act of resilience through art, the songs address deep questions, anchored in the reality of this new decade: inner metamorphosis, artistic questioning, love renewal, identity at the time of the Black Lives Matter movement, richness of the differences, and the Earth that we leave to the future generations.
We appreciate the depth and poetic nuance that DOVE-i and Rioux V share with this release, and have added THE REVOLUTION to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we explore more of their work!
