Setting the tone with bold drums and vibrant electric guitar licks performed by the artist herself, Amber T opens Ripped Jeans with intrigue and atmospheric vocals, as she sings the introspective and reflective lyrics, “Time moves so slowly when you’re stuck in an eighteenth daydream, I close my eyes, no tears left to cry, I know that I’m stronger than this…”
The opus expands into a vibrant and anthemic pop-rock, meets alternative-pop energy, and we are hypnotized. We appreciate the poetic prowess that Amber T shares, and can imagine that fans of Olivia Rodrigo and Kelly Clarkson would be able to connect with her sound, although there is no doubt that she is creating a universe of her own.
At 18 years old, Amber T continues to push her artistry forward with the release of Ripped Jeans. With tonnes of radio play including BBC Introducing, and a stunning music video that showcases the rising artist’s tangible charisma in a relatable fashion, as she literally wears ripped jeans, plays guitar and dances around her house, there is no doubt that Amber T is set for expansion.
From exploring her wider discography, we learn that West Sussex born Amber T has an innate gift for crafting infectious melodies and catchy songs. She has been performing at open mics since the age of eight, and teaching herself to play guitar (you can see her slaying the opening riff in the video for Ripped Jeans!) and keyboards. to writing and releasing her debut solo single Jigsaw at fifteen. Sir Elton John even described her work as as “brilliant” as he played No Company on his Apple Music Rocket Hour Show.
Amber T cites The 1975, Sam Fender, Frank Ocean, and Beabadoobee as some of her inspirations, which we can feel come through in her art, although it is definitely laced with her own vibe and authenticity. This year, Amber T has been busy performing around the UK at numerous festivals, playing to shows with up to 5,000 in attendance.
