Setting the tone with enigmatic strings and keys, Dave Belding opens Little Dancer with intrigue and dimensionality. A rising guitar and celestial tones build with rolling drums, as the opus expands into a moody and immersive energy.
Speaking on the meaning of the song, Dave confesses, “Little Dancer is a song with a message. Go after your dreams. Don’t let negative people knock you off your path.”
We appreciate the wisdom in the lyricism and some highlights include the inspiring and self-realized opener, “Wishing’s fun but thirst makes you move, doubt will sink almost anyone, the world can point and laugh and judge by their weakness…”, and the progressive, “In a perfect world we’d be perfectly equal…”
Elaborating on the inception of Little Dancer, Dave tells us, “After doing the band thing and loving it, I decided to start a new solo project making use of guitars, mixed with electronic elements to create songs with mood, and melody. Heavy at times, and an all around music listening experience.” He adds with reference to his detailed soundscape, “There are no sample [or] drum loops. Every note was deliberately put in its place.”
The saxophone solo and grunge guitar are simply out of this world and we love the charisma that Dave delivers his message with! We love the mood and message that Dave shares with his authentic artistry.
He cites Tool, Skipknot, Sneaker Pimps, Hans Zimmer and Thrice as some of his influences, which we can feel come through in the track, as well as Nirvana, especially when he sings the lyrics, “Entertain me…”, although it is clear that Dave Belding is creating a universe of his own.
We have added Little Dancer to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we anticipate new releases from Dave Belding!
