It’s been an incredible year for Snakedoctors with the releases of the thought-provoking single, Crime Story, the anthemic Friday Night and their fourth studio album, Four and a half, so when we heard they had also released, the WW Remix of B Song, we couldn’t wait to listen!
Drawing us in with vibrant synths and an 80s energy, the WW Remix of B Song opens with dimensionality and intrigue. The nostalgic elements in the soundscape are tangible, but fused with a progressive sense of futurism in the mix.
The band deliver the situational lyrics, “She wants to find that someone…”, with rawness and charisma, as they take us on a subversive an romantic journey with reference to their muse!
We appreciate the high synths and vocal harmonies, which add dynamism to the already immersive piece. We learn that B Song is the fourth single promoting last Snakedoctors‘ double album, Four and a Half.
It is noted that this song is actually a remix of a grunge song with the same title done by band’s guitarist and vocalist Wojciech Wypych! The single production involved – Joe Gibb, well known for working with such bands like Depeche Mode, The Cure, The Kinks, Jane’s Addiction, Stone Roses and The Mission (mixing) and Kevin Paul, who also worked with Depeche Mode, the Kinks, Yazoo, Erasure and David Bowie (mastering). We can hear all of these iconic references come through at the same time Snakedoctors cement their own unique sound fusing new wave and new romantic elements.
The WW Remix of B Song comes with a powerful and magnetic, film-noir music video shot in Belgrade, starring actress Ivona, with a video story by Wojciech Wypych. We love the quality of the visual and the intimate performance that fits perfectly with the narrative of the song.
We an in awe of the WW Remix of B Song, and have added it to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream the wider discography of Snakedoctors!
