Establishing the mood with immersive keys, sam marke opens burden to bear with the emotive and vulnerable lyrics, “I’m afraid of conversations, most of them don’t go right, always say what I never mean to, wish that I would think twice…”
Speaking on the meaning of the opus, sam marke confesses, “This song is about my personal experience of being Autistic and the struggle of being misunderstood.”
He adds with intention, “I’m hoping this song will help those who aren’t Autistic become more patient and understanding towards those who are, and I’m hoping it will help Autistic people feel more heard, represented, and less alone.”
We appreciate the purpose that sam marke shares with his art, and the authenticity it takes to share his soul and experience like this. We love his vocal range and the way that the song builds into a polished, soft pop energy with immersive drums and textures.
We learn that the song is co-written with producer Jacob Mandel (Melatonin Girls, Tetra Collective), mixed by Joey Messina-Doerning (Maddie Zahm, Haim), and mastered by John Greenham (Billy Eilish, Sam Smith). We can also feel these influences coming though in the soundscape, although it is clear that sam marke is creating a universe of his own.
We have added sam marke‘s burden to bear to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we anticipate further releases from the talented rising artist.
