Setting the tone with immersive strings and keys, Rachel Davie Lee opens Love Is in the Air with charm, and the situational lyrics, “I’ve been thinking of life with you…”
The opus expands into a progressive, neo-soul meets contemporary R&B energy, and we are in awe of Rachel Davie Lee’s poetic nuance, authentic lyricism and charismatic delivery.
Speaking on the context of release, Rachel tells us, “This is the lead track from my debut EP, Barely Concealed, [and] the song won a Modern Soulful Music Award earlier this year!”
The accolades do not surprise us as the quality of the composition is flawless. Fans of Sade, Roberta Flack and Minnie Ripperton will definitely be able to connect with Rachel Davie Lee, although it is clear that she is creating a universe of her own!
From a young age, Rachel was immersed in a rich multiculturalism. Born in Jamaica and of Scottish/Guyanese heritage, raised in London, and having graduated from St. Andrews, Lee’s exposure to diverse musical influences in the UK and abroad influenced what will be known as her distinct, signature style.
We have added Love Is in the Air to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream her epic debut EP, Barely Concealed on repeat!
