Setting the tone with atmospheric vocals and the lyrics, “Can we cuddle though the night?”, Shihori opens Harmonizer with a delicate charm and an an immersive synthscape.
The opus expands into a contemporary R&B-pop, soulful energy and we are hypnotized. With pristine and intricate production, Harmonizer features luscious vocal tones, a charismatic delivery, and a sense of intrigue and dimensionality as Shihori shares her soul.
Shihori tells us that the song touches on the theme of “trying to find the shape of love”. The lyrics and artwork reimagine Shihori as a mythical fairy whale, lost in a dream, remembering her true love and the magic they shared together as a result of their deep connection.
Shihori elaborates on her story with depth, “In 2020, I began a journey to rediscover myself after I lost confidence, releasing several tracks that explored topics of self-compassion and self-acceptance. Being in love is like creating art, and when people love one another, they create something beautiful together that previously didn’t exist: like carving a unique sculpture out of solid rock. Harmonizer is a celebration of the unlimited joy and creativity that results from these relationships.”
Based in LA, we learn that pop-singer Shihori is a million selling creator in Japan, she has written over 100 songs for J-pop artists and TV anime shows and video games, but relocated to the U.S. in 2018 to take an adventure in the American pop music industry.
Speaking on her unique qualities as an artist and purpose, Shihori confesses, “I am a half-deaf, Asperger person, and I’ve been singing the message to “love who you are” all the time, I believe I can be a new icon of empowerment for the minorities and disability communities as well.”
We deeply appreciate the poetic prowess and authenticity that Shihori shares with her artistry, and have added Harmonizer to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we explore her wider discography including Steel Ball Run OP: Holy Steel and SAVIOR.
