Megafon release immersive, intricate and inspiring new single, Not at All Worried

Establishing the mood with luscious vocal layers and percussive details, Megafon open Not at All Worried with a sense of warmth and dimensionality.

The opus expands into a dreamy indie-pop, experimental energy with atmospheric vocals and poetic lyricism, as the Copenhagen-based duo sing evocatively and introspectively, “Again the sun is shining, the clouds seems so long gone, still its all so awkward that I’m so alone…”

We learn that Megafon are Marte and Mikael, a couple who have been together romantically since 1999 and professionally since 2008! We also learn that Not at All Worried is created with the intention to be “a silent shout to bring hope and love in a completely crazy world”.

We appreciate the depth and authenticity that the duo share with their recognisable Nordic flavour. The sound design is expansive and we adore the presence of the saxophone and accordion, which lend themselves to a worldly feel.

Marte and Mikael’s musical melting pot began in the Copenhagen underground scene in the nineties. She was fascinated by Bulgarian music, had learned Bulgarian vocal techniques. He played saxophone, avantgarde jazz, and was inspired by Middle Eastern music. They met in Kantaloop, a band that in the couple’s own words “played a kind of ethno-electronic rock music inspired by Portishead”. This marked the beginning of Marte and Mikael’s long musical, geographical, and spiritual journey.

We have added Not at all worried to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream Megafon‘s wider discography including The Letter and In My Garden.
