Setting the tone with cerebral textures and compressed, but rising vocals, 45dee teases Callin me with intrigue and a narration asking for confirmation of the artist’s name, followed by vocal add libs before exploding into a dimensional hip-hop meets trap soundscape.
45dee opens with the empowering lyrics, “Getting money and I feel like I’m the man, all my music on demand, shorty say the she’s a fan…” as he delivers a unique and vibrant song about “levelling up on your own”.
Speaking on the creation of Callin me, the rising artist from New Brunswick says, “I feel as if I have improved myself in many different aspects without anybody’s help, and that is what this song is about.”
He continues with depth and wisdom, “Callin me is about not needing anybody else and bossing up. Many young people live their life too centered around finding or keeping a significant other. While this isn’t wrong, I think more people should focus on improving themselves because at the end of the day, you’re only there for yourself.”
We appreciate the poetic nuance of the piece and the charisma with which 45dee delivers his message of pride and empowerment. We learn that the artist made his first song at twelve, and later got into making music in a friend’s garage when he was sixteen. His passion and authenticity is tangible.
Elaborating on his influences, 45dee confesses, “Two very different artists who have influenced me, Mac Miller and King Von. They have two very unique sounds and attribute to the way my music is”. We can feel their impact on his work, but it is clear that 45dee is creating a unique sound of his own.
We have added Callin me to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream 45dee‘s wider discography including No passes / Make it back, Nightmares and Toxic.
