Setting the tone with pulsing, textured drums and a bold electric guitar riff expanding into an anthemic pop-punk soundscape, Detention open Faded, Not Jaded with the situational lyrics, “Set it off, think it’s time for us both to go back home tonight…”
The opus evolves with charisma and a high-octane sense of nostalgia, as Detention deliver a dynamic and immersive performance with introspective lyricism and relatable themes.
“Faded, Not Jaded is about everyone having a different version of you in their head. That version might change, but you’ll never be able to control or understand it. It makes you question lots of things”, confesses guitarist and lyricist Evan Cox when discussing the release.
We appreciate the vocal range exhibited in Faded, Not Jaded, and the poetic prowess demonstrated in the song-writing. The band is made up lead singer Elliott Carter, guitarist Evan Cox, bassist Fritz Dannemiller, and drummer Luke Konopka.
We learn that the band’s previous singles 56 Minutes and Good + Ready have become two of the most played tracks on Sirius XM’s Faction Punk channel 314. The teen band from Akron, Ohio also just wrapped another summer of festival appearances, and a highly-buzzed showcase at The Gathering Event at Beachland Ballroom in Cleveland for Epitaph records among others.
Fans of Paramore will definitely be able to connect with Detention, although it is clear that the teen outfit are creating a destiny of their own with a growing and dedicated legion of fans.
