We recently featured Carter Fox for the powerful and immersive release of Cosmic Sunrise, so we were thrilled to have the chance to listen to his brand new single, Space Island.
Setting the tone with textured beats and rippling keys, we immediately feel immersed in Space Island. The sonic experience is transcendental, and we appreciate the intercity of the keys, lending themselves to a future-jazz hybrid energy.
As we stare at the epic artwork featuring a cosmic sky and crystal beach with luscious palm trees, a euphoric and galactic energy takes over us, in line with the soundscape and intention of Carter Fox‘s latest opus.
For Space Island, Carter Fox has joined forces with Joe Kenney on keys and Ethan Stauffer on guitar, and we learn that the composition is an improvisation, recorded in one take at Everloft Studios in Schwenksville. This explains why the organic flow is so cohesive and authenticity tangible.
The release is designed to encapsulate Fox’s signature boombap meets chillhop inspired production. The bassist and producer has been an active artist since he was fifteen, growing from playing in local bars and clubs around Philadelphia to sharing stages with Jeffrey Osborne, Patti LaBelle, and the Isley Brothers.
We love how Space Island was released to celebrate the first day of Fall and the autumnal equinox. A brilliant and cosmic gesture of alignment from the conscious artist. The release also comes with a hypnotizing live video showcasing the epic performances from the trio!
We have added Space Island to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream Carter Fox‘s wider discography including Cosmic Sunrise, Cosmic Sunset and M87!
