Setting the tone with a textured riser and enigmatic synth melodies, Mr Streetz opens Save Me from Myself with atmospheric vocals singing the title of the track, before expanding into a rap verse as he delivers the vulnerable lyrics, “You know I’m not strong when I’m on my own, ’bout to spark up another one when you call my phone…”
The opus evolves into drill meets hip-hop hybrid energy, as Mr Streetz touches upon his weaknesses, his drug habit and his loneliness. We love the hook as he sings, “Save Me from Myself, cos I don’t feel so well, I need you here to tell me, I’ll be ok, just save me from myself…”
We learn that the piece is about overcoming his addiction as he find his saviour in the form of a woman to is able to guide him successfully. Although covering a heavy subject matter, the song is laced with optimism.
Save Me from Myself comes with a powerful and cinematic music video which features an epic performance from our protagonist. The visual is shot in Marbella, Spain and sees Mr Streetz on the beach, in a tunnel with graffiti and on a bridge as he brings to life his story.
We `appreciate the depth and authenticity of Mr Streetz‘s artistry and the relatable message of Save Me from Myself at a time when many people are struggling with drugs and suicidal ideation. The composition is cathartic for both listener and artist and we can only hope that those who experience the song will feel a connection and desire to continue with hope in their hearts.
Save Me from Myself has been added to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream the wider discography of Mr Streetz, including For My Daughter and Hood Therapy.
