Setting the tone with strummed guitar and celestial tones, Raven Shelley opens Do You Miss Me Yet? with dimensionality, and the situational lyrics, “Do you miss me yet in your solitude, good luck finding someone to put up with you, I think I deserve a medal for all the s___ I had to endure…”
The opus expands into an alternative folk meets soft rock energy, as Raven Shelley delivers poetic prowess to share a break up story with us. Laced with anger and resentment, Do You Miss Me Yet? is a fierce and assertive statement that many will be able to relate to.
It touches upon themes of the human condition, adopting each others’ interests during a relationship without honest acknowledgment of the wisdom instilled, betrayal and lack of gratitude.
We learn that Raven Shelley draws inspiration from artists such as Bob Dylan and Ani DiFranco, which we can feel come through in her art, although it is clear that she is creating a sound and message of her own. Fans of Lily Allen will also be able to connect with Raven’s sound.
Growing up in the south of France, Raven educated herself in English literature from a young age and went on to study it at university. The rising artist comments, “All the hurt, all the anger, all the love, everything that runs through me can be found somewhere in my lyrics, because to write something real, you have to pour yourself onto the page and into the songs.”
We love the energy and authenticity that Raven Shelley shares with her compositions, and have added Do You Miss Me Yet? to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we also stream her debut single, Sink in Solitude.
