Setting the tone with playful and industrial electric guitar notes with bold drum riffs, PolSky opens Halcyon Daze with intrigue, dimensionality and vibrant, anthemic vocals.
The opus expands into an upbeat banger, fusing nostalgic and almost classic rock sentiments with a futurist mix and compelling dance-floor ready energy. Needless to say, we are obsessed.
Halcyon Daze is PolSky‘s second track from his upcoming, as yet untitled album, due for release in 2023. Citing a fusion of Bloc Party, The Cure and Duran Duran as sonic influences, we appreciate the references, but it is clear that PolSky, who is also known as Kris Warren, is creating a sound of his very own, described as flitting between “80s Pop and Noughties Indie-Disco, reminiscent of Camden Town’s guitar-driven heyday and skinny-jeaned Holloway Road pub crawls.”
We learn that the single and respective album were written in response to recent turbulent years – “a time when existential anxiety and the idea of death have been lurking uneasily in our peripheral thoughts, with the message that once we find ways to acknowledge and accept these fears, we can take back control and start to re-write our futures.”
We deeply appreciate the sentiment that the artist is sharing with his lyrical prowess and epic soundscape. He comments, “This song is an introspective romp forcing us to take a look into a future [that we are] heading towards, which is now.”
PolSky performs as part of a wider collective known as PolSky Corp which features Senior Synth Architect, Ben Warn on keyboards, Rhythm Logistics Engineer, Alex Robertson on drums, and Low Frequency Systems Analyst, Chris Norman on bass. The have an upcoming show at JuJu’s Brick Lane in London to celebrate the launch of the single!
We have added Halcyon Daze to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream the wider discography of PolSky including 100 Millions Ways to Die.
