Setting the tone with immersive keys and an enigmatic, cerebral frequency, KIRI opens Don’t Make Me Lose with the assertive lyrics, “Got up, I’m through, I really don’t wanna be rude and I still wanna be with you boy, but I don’t understand why you keep pushing me to my, my limits…”
The opus expands with a futuristic pop energy to deliver a meaningful and introspective message about the frustrations of a struggling relationship, to the point of giving a final warning about whether to salvage or end the connection. With Don’t Make Me Lose, KIRI comments on the human condition, the potential end of an era and enforces her boundaries.
We appreciate the lyrical prowess that KIRI shares, and her charismatic delivery of the hook, “Losing my, losing my, losing my patience, don’t let me lose it…”, as well as the intricacy and dimensionality of the production.
The old adage is that patience is a virtue, but when one’s limits have been tested, for example in KIRI‘s reality, we have to remind ourselves to stay aligned and not let anger and frustration get the better of us. Don’t Make Me Lose is a cathartic example of how we can encourage ourselves to be the best versions of ourselves, despite the triggers.
The rising Singaporean artist uses her art to destigmatize mental illness, with the aim to inspire her audience by sharing music that is soothing and pulls on heart strings.
We learn that the song is written by multi award-winning songwriter, composer, arranger and record producer, Jonathan Manalo, alongside Filipino singer-songwriter, Trisha Denise.
Speaking on her release, KIRI confesses, “I am so very honoured to have worked on this song with Jonathan and to have sung this heartfelt song written by both Jonathan and Trisha. Both of their works are so very inspiring and Jonathan has given me so much guidance in crafting my music.”
She adds, “I’m excited to once again be able to spread my love for music and hopefully inspire others to seek comfort and find strength in embracing their passions for their art.”
We appreciate the depth and authenticity with which KIRI creates, and cannot wait to see the upcoming music video for the single. In the meantime, we have added Don’t Make Me Lose to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we also stream her debut single, I Am Here.
