This year has been full of success for Xavier Bernazard with the releases of the introspective and self-aware, Enemy and the dynamic and theatrical pop-punk ballad, Restart, so we were excited to experience their latest release, Hero Song!
Drawing us in with vibrant electric guitars and a playful alternative rock energy, Hero Song opens with the inspiring and self-referential lyrics, “Thirty-three and all grown up, you never really quite give up…”
We always love Xavier Bernazard‘s candid authenticity, and Hero Song is another powerful bop, designed to increase self confidence for those who experience the opus. It is the third and final single from their upcoming album, Balloons For My Funeral, and Xavier tells us, “It is a love letter to my family acknowledging their heroic figure in my life and a call to arms to future generations.”
Elaborating on the soundscape, Xavier confesses, “Musically it is inspired by anime intros and video game music”, which we can feel come through in the sound design of the piece, in line with their naturally theatrical pop-punk nature!
We love the rippling intricacy of the piano performed by Josh Karas, combined with Xavier’s powerful and passionate vocal delivery which brings to life the narrative of the composition.
Xavier Bernazard‘ cites Evanescence, Paramore, My Chemical Romance, Panic at the Disco, Three Days Grace, Linkin Park, Yungblud and With Confidence as some of their inspirations overall, and we love the perspectives that each of these acts brings to Xavier’s sound.
We have added Hero Song to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we anticipate the upcoming album and continue to stream Xavier Bernazard‘s wider discography.
