Setting the tone with atmospheric vocals singing, “How do you really want it?”, Lukx opens Sunny with an immersive synthscape, glistening keys and a dimensional bass-line.
Delivering an intricate opening rap verse in French, Sunny expands into a chilled Hip-Hop meets R&B hybrid opus, as Lukx takes us on a journey full of poetic nuance. Lukx has a luscious vocal timbre that reminds us of 90s French Hip-Hop moguls like MC Solaar, fused with the contemporary prowess of Kendrick Lamar, although it is clear that Lukx is also creating a dimension of his own.
We learn that Sunny is produced and composed by Nils Malmport, who is Lukx‘s father, bringing together familial vibe for the exquisite joint project. Lukx has been spreading the message of his sound with performances at a lot of small different gigs in Belgium and has already started to receive radio play for his songs.
We appreciate the optimistic lyricism as Lukx sings the hook, “You make me feel like Summer, isn’t it funny, how do you really want it?” When elaborating on the meaning of the track, Lukx and Nils tell us that “it’s all about perception”, and to encourage listeners to “jump into fear like if it was water on a sunny day.”
Recorded in their home studio in Belgium, we appreciate the dynamic nature of the track and the passion and authenticity that Lukx performs with.
We have added Sunny to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream Lukx‘s wider discography including Optimist and Wild West.
