We’ve been following the growth of The Margaret Hooligans, including this year’s epic releases of Red Rider, Fat Tongue and Pete and Roger, so we couldn’t wait to experience, Feedback.
Opening with a unique dialogue and the affirming words, “You know, you have a beautiful voice, it’s gorgeous, I don’t think I’ve ever heard anything more beautiful in all my life…”, before a drumstick count-in draws us into the alt-rock iconic energy that we have come to expect from The Margaret Hooligans.
Meg Cratty delivers the first lyric line of the song assertively, as she sings, “I didn’t ask for your feedback, I don’t care to hear what you have to say…”, whilst the opus expands into a fierce anthem about opinion overload and questioning the purpose of oversharing in the digital age.
The duo tell us, “It’s an energetic anthem for the introvert who has found online socializing just as stressful as in person interactions.” Feedback is the sixth and last single release from The Margaret Hooligans‘ upcoming album, Turntable Tribulations due out on October 21!
The single invites us to take a deep and hard look at what we say, how we communicate, not only with ourselves, but with others. We love the soundscape that Mr. Strontium and Meg create, and the dimensional nature of the message.
Meg’s delivery is fierce and charismatic as she recites the iconic playground chant, “sticks and stones will break my bones…”, adding her own poetic nuance and flair, holding true to the intention of the release.
We are excited for the release of Turntable Tribulations and will be streaming the wider discography of The Margaret Hooligans in the lead up to the release. Meanwhile, Feedback has been added to our New Music Spotlight playlist!
