We recently featured To Hell With Tradition for his high concept and vibrant single, Paper Cuts, so we were excited to experience his album in full, and the standout track, Eggshells, which has also been released as a single!
Establishing the mood with an immersive, organ chord and pulsating synth melody, To Hell With Tradition, also known as artist Achim Hofmeyer, opens Eggshells with the conceptual lyricism that we have come to expect from the rising star.
We love the hook as To Hell With Tradition sings, “The shadows have been dancing for too long, they’re missionary singing their song…” and as he questions introspectively “Is there anything else to say?”, before the opus expands with 80s drum riffs, textured vocal echos and intricate percussion.
Eggshells features an out-of-this-world guitar solo which really dimensionalizes the track, and we are obsessed with To Hell With Tradition‘s charismatic vocal delivery which really amplifies the message of the song.
The single also comes with an epic, silhouette-style music video featuring multiple versions of our protagonist delivering a mesmerizing performance with three sets of emotions.
Speaking on the release of the visual, To Hell With Tradition tells us, “After having released two cinematic, yet lyrics-based videos for two singles from my third album Blurred, I finally wanted to get into something visually more dramatised. As with all my work so far, I have done this completely on my own at my humble flat.”
We appreciate the authenticity and multi-disciplinary artistry it takes to create a universe on one’s own, and To Hell With Tradition is setting the bar high for independent artists. We have added Eggshells to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we stream his album, Blurred, on repeat!
