We recently featured Clare Easdown for her powerful and atmospheric single, Your Eyes Are Ice, so we were thrilled to have the chance to listen to her brand new release, I’ll Wait.
Establishing the mood with a vinyl texture, enigmatic synth notes and atmospheric vocals, Clare Easdown opens her opus with the lyrics, “I’ll wait for you…”, as the soundscape expands into a trip-hop meets dark-pop hybrid energy.
Intricate high hats and a dimensional bass-line immerse us as Clare Easdown delivers poetic prowess with her emotive delivery as she sings passionately, “Will you ever be mine? I’ll love you til the end of time…”
Clare confesses that “I’ll Wait is a cry out for love. An open heart surgery of the soul. Expressing one’s pure longing and yearning for a response.” The rising artist from Menai in Australia adds, “I’ll Wait is wearing your heart on your eyes. It’s a love song, gone obsessed with glitters rippling of insanity through-out.’
We appreciate the vulnerability that Clare Easdown shares with I’ll Wait and how she references a “bipolar episode”and waiting for replies on WhatsApp as the inspiration behind writing the song, which clearly comes from a very authentic place. She says, “I’d rather be hated for who I am than loved for who I am not.”
Clare teamed up with producer Simon Pipe on the track, and fans of Morcheeba and Portishead will definitely be able to connect with Clare Easdown‘s sound, although there is no doubt that she is creating her own sonic universe.
Clare Easdown believes in the power of self expression through music and hopes to show that if she can produce music, anyone can and should. We agree that it is one’s human right to create the soundtrack to your life and this holds true to the message that Clare is inspiring. We have added I’ll Wait to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream Clare Easdown‘s wider discography.
