Setting the tone with bold and dimensional electronic bass notes, Hannibal opens Roses with the lyrics, “Roses, the season’s changing, the Earth is shaking…”
With percussive details and a melodic yet playful synth, Roses expands into an immersive alternative pop meets contemporary R&B soundscape, filled with poetic nuance and a moving message from Hannibal.
On August 19, Hannibal released his debut album, MHB, which includes contributions from musicians in Austria, Peru, The Dominican Republic, Los Angeles, Boston, and more. We appreciate the authenticity in his artistry, and Hannibal‘s charismatic delivery displayed on Roses which is an emotive and ethereal number.
Hannibal cites artists including Sean Paul, John Legend and India Arie as some of his influences, although it is clear that the Florida based artist is creating a universe of his own. While MHB is primarily an R&B project, it draws on flavors from varying songwriting styles and cultural influences that have merged to create the music that Hannibal produces today.
“I can see you in the future yet unwritten”, is a beautiful line, which showcases Hannibal‘s lyrical prowess and authenticity on Roses, fused with a luscious minimalist synth!
We have added Roses to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream the wider discography of Hannibal including Stay Anywhere and his album MHB!
