Setting the tone with retro, electric guitar riffs, GAZ open Happy Girl with intricacy and a playful edge. The opus expands into a vibrant, classic rock energy filled with poetic nuance and a charismatic delivery.
Based in Barcelona, GAZ channel a youthful energy on the charming rock tune, which we learn is based on a true story! Comprised of Josep on lead vocals and bass, Jordi on lead guitar and background vocals and Albert on drums, the band take us on a romantic adventure and introduce us to the pink trouser-wearing muse of the composition, and the hopes of a connection.
The trio cite influences including The Rolling Stones, The Kinks, The Who, The Beatles, CCR, ZZ Top, T-Rex and Led Zeppelin, although it is clear that they are creating a universe of their own.
We appreciate the nostaligic edge and futuristic lens that GAZ have created with Happy Girl, and we love the personification of the alluring protagonist.
The origins of GAZ began 20 years ago in the city of Barcelona. Ignited by a passion for music, three friends set out on a journey to create music that lifts the spirit and entertains the crowds. By the sound of the guitar solo on Happy Girl, we can imagine that a live show with GAZ would be out of this world!
We have added Happy Girl to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream the wider discography of GAZ including I’m Against It and I Feel Good Indeed.
