Setting the tone with bold, anthemic electrics guitars and immersive percussion, Beat The Drum open It’s All Gonna Go with intrigue, dimensionality and the inspiring lyrics, “Got a beautiful wife, you got a beautiful car, you got a beautiful life, you’ve sure come far, everything you want, everything you get, you’re climbing high, but you ain’t done yet…”
It’s All Gonna Go expands into a alternative rock soundscape fused with elements of grunge and contemporary rock, as Beat The Drum highlight the story of “someone who has it all but still wants more”.
Speaking on the message of the song, the band confesses that it is about “a classic rise and fall”, as they sing the profound hook and title of the track, “It’s All Gonna Go…“
We appreciate the cinematic edge that the composition holds, ideal for Blockbuster synch deals, and the opus even comes with a visual that reflects this, featuring archive footage from Limitless, along with other narratives that represent, and bring to life, the message of the song!
Beat The Drum is a duo from London, featuring Chris Calloway and Steve Murrell, who write, record and produce, sing, play guitar, keyboards, program beats and create their sonic universe independently.
We learn that the cult band, was originally formed as a five piece during the eighties, and put out cryptic messages and bizarre adverts on buildings and in the music press. They had international success with the singles Try, This City and the album Nation To Nation.
We appreciate their collective experience, and how it comes through in the poetic nuance of their writing, and the refined and complexed soundscape that they create! They take inspiration from projects including Nine Inch Nails, Uncle, Little Dragon, PJ Harvey, St. Vincent, Jo Armon Jones, along with the best moments of David Bowie and Gorillaz, although it is clear that they are establishing a vision of their own.
We have added the powerful, It’s All Gonna Go, to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream their Beat The Drum‘s wider discography including Chunky Monkey and Cult Religion.
