Setting the tone with the most important word and philosophical message in the history of time, Cris Gunther a.k.a. C-GUN opens Compass Love (Club Remix) with echoes of the word “love”, amidst a pulsating and polished beat designed for creating movement within the being of the listener.
Compass Love (Club Remix) expands into a luscious vocal-dance meets funk-house soundscape, filled with poetic nuance such as the lyrics, “I lose my cool, lust burning in my brain…”, as the opus takes us on a journey of the human condition, coming of age, expansion, and self-love.
We learn that the inception of Compass Love goes back to C-GUN‘s time living in Brazil, where his initial collaboration with composers Leonardo Clementine and Luã Linhares birthed the conceptual wings that carried the song all the way to Hollywood for the Randy Jackson, Babyface, Kenny G, and Walter Afanasieff talent competition, ISINA, which produced the original pop-funk-soul-80s dance version called Compass Love Pt. 2 (Compass Love Pt. 1 is a progressive rock-electro interpretation), co-crafted by two times Grammy winner Walter Afanasieff’s production team, Eric Zayne And Aleena Gibson.
We appreciate the rich depth of the history of the composition, and the exquisite and intricate production, as well as Cris’ soaring and wider range of vocals, along with the important message of the piece, as C-GUN shares his connection with love energy lyrically and emotively.
The middle eight strips back, as Cris delivers atmospheric vocals, once again demonstrating his outstanding range and authentic emotion. The opus rebuilds with the repeated message-driven hook, claps and the dimensional bass-line that we have come to love throughout the sonic journey of Compass Love (Club Remix) before the final and euphoric reprise.
It is no surprise that C-GUN has had notable song features including the ART-FOR-FREEDOM project which is Madonna’s social justice initiative, as well as Jared Leto’s Carrera Eyewear campaign.
We have added Compass Love (Club Remix) to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream C-GUN‘s wider discography including his family collaboration, Walk A Mile In My Shoes.
