We recently featured Venior as she destroyed to create in the powerful single, Spit Fire, so we wanted to dive deeper into her recent release, Curtains Fall!
Immersing us with arpeggiated vocal samples, Venior opens Curtains Fall with an atmospheric beat and the situational lyrics, “Masquerade, made up place, made up costumes…”
The opus expands with intricate keys and a luscious bassline, into a cinematic alternative pop soundscape, as Venior delivers a commentary on “letting down the curtain of the reality theatre of our times, and see beyond our conditioning.”
We appreciate the poetic nuance of Curtains Fall, which asks profound philosophical questions such as, “Who are we really when our roles fall apart? What is left when everything we thought we knew crumbles?”
We learn that the song is written, produced and mixed by Venior, and part of her debut full length album set to be released early next year! Curtains Fall comes with a conceptual music video, where Venior takes us on a cerebral trip and delivers an emotive performance.
The psychedelic artwork is literally out-of-this-world, giving us DMT meets acid trip vibes, in line with the sound of the song, and the visual. Fans of MØ, Grimes and NEO 10Y will definitely be able to connect with Venior.
Speaking on her artistry, Venior says ,”My music has a strong message and it reflects my lifestyle. I don’t want to just sing about change, I want to live it. I don’t want to contribute to a mass-consumerist Earth destroying life style, so I have created an alternative one based on recycling and recreation, and my music is the soundtrack to that.”
Venior first emerged in 2015 with her songs Sugar Rush and Na Na Na. She has travelled the world working with top producers and artists like Nova Wav (Beyonce, Rihanna), Zara Larsson and Kumi Koda. The singer, songwriter, producer, painter and designer from Finland is currently based in Berlin. Her ability to mix wild, experimental beats with heavy bass sounds, powerful vocals and a strong message is what sets her apart; and she describes her mysterious and colourful art world as a portal into the Neon Pussy Universe.
We have added Curtains Fall to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream Venior‘s wider discography!
