By now, you will have seen that we are massive fans of BC Roadz, as we recently covered his singles, Comfort Blues, and D.D., so we were thrilled to have the chance to experience his latest release, B00!.
Opening with boundless, cerebral sound effects and an immersive riser fused with echoing add libs, we are immediately intrigued by B00!. The opus expands with percussive clicks and a synthetic melody line, as our protagonist, BC Roadz, delivers the conceptual lyrics, “Stare into the darkness all you see is lifeless, ghouls popping up to party with the thoughtless, an MC cutting with DJ Rubato, I flow like wine he paint like Picasso…”
We are obsessed with BC Roadz‘s intricate flow and the dimensional nature of his latest composition. A lyrical highlight that really moves us is the powerful, “If music and passion can’t show us the way, then fuse me and light me then blow me away…”
BC Roadz‘s energy, as he delivers B00!, is dynamic and unparalleled and we concur that he is “one of the most unique musical acts you will ever experience”.
We appreciate the Salt Lake City based artist’s combination of satirical comedy and a vibrant sonic landscape that is fresh, topical and sonically diverse. Also, we can’t forget about his musical robot, Doso Rubato, who produces his beats!
B00! is the lead track on BC Roadz‘s 5-track thematic EP, MR. A.I., which takes on “heavy themes like the wealth gap and political corruption”. Speaking on the record, BC Roadz confesses, “I’m channeling my inner Tarantino.” He adds, “The depictions of violence are cinematic and full of metaphors. Whatever genre boxes exist doesn’t matter to me.”
