We recently featured Under Delusion for their subversive, enigmatic and hypnotizing single, Runaway, so we were thrilled to hear that they just released the brand new, Over The Rainbow!
Establishing the mood with enigmatic electric guitar and industrial percussion, Under Delusion open Over the Rainbow with atmospheric vocals and the emotive lyrics, “Last time you said, you’ll never love another girl, and you were sad, and I thought that you are wrong…”
The opus expands with a alternative, synth rock energy to deliver a meaningful and heart felt message. We learn that Over the Rainbow was written in loving memory of Under Delusion‘s friend and talented musician Maxx Verkhovski.
The band confess, “Maxx worked with us in a studio when we recorded demos of Fairy, Pain and other songs of our debut album. We had a great conversation about music, artists and music-making just a day before he passed away.”
A lyrical highlight is, “Feel the rhythm and flow, open up you heart, cause music is a part of you, that can go far beyond your life…”, which really cements the message and impact of Maxx Verkhovski‘s life.
We appreciate the poetic nuance of the composition, and the soundscape that Under Delusion create with their artistry. The final segment of the opus, before the final reprise, is haunting as we experience the hook of the song on an emotional loop.
Comprised of band members well into their thirties, Under Delusion speaks volumes on behalf of life-long passion and experience united. Presenting themes of love, anger, loss, and all manner of honest reflections on humanity and life itself, their songs call out to the deep thinkers and emotionally uncertain alike. In times of great division and difficulty, they offer understanding, escapism and solace.
We have added Over the Rainbow to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream the wider discography of Under Delusion including Fairy and Runaway.
