Setting the tone with intricate, celestial keys and atmospheric vocals, Zaritza opens her single, Glow with situational and expansive lyricism, “Only tomorrow, the war is over… I only wish for the stars to Glow, I only wish for my eyes to see more…”
The powerful and emotive opus expands with details of electronica to form a luscious and immersive sonic tapestry that has us in awe. We learn that Glow is a dedication to Zaritza‘s daughter, in honour of her first birthday, today on the full moon in Aquarius!
Speaking on the release, Zaritza confesses, “Glow is very special to me. I have dedicated this to my baby daughter. She has brought a new level of inspiration into my creative life before she was even born. It’s also a very different project from my previous ones and I am very excited to introduce new sounds as well as [a] “new” me!”
The rising artist from Highlands adds with wisdom, “Motherhood is a transformative experience for many, one that has been immortalised into artwork to preserve the beauty of this eternal bond.”
Fans of Radiohead and Massive Attack will definitely be able to connect with the composition, Zaritza also cites Sergei Rachmaninoff as an influence, although it is clear that she is creating a universe of her own!
The release of Glow is accompanied by a music video, which was filmed whilst Zaritza was still pregnant. The visual plays out like a dream sequence – taking us into a space of absolute serenity. We appreciate the cinematography and Zaritza‘s emotive performance!
“The whole concept of the video is based on longing for something bigger, something unknown and mysterious, but beautiful at the same time”, Zaritza explains. “The birth of this magic is compared to the birth of life inside me. Travelling through different layers of our existence and reaching many dimensions of the universe is still not as powerful and extraordinary as creating the brightest shining star inside of your body.”
“Ultimately, the song is about love for yourself, for life, for the unknown and soon-to-be known!”, she concludes.
We have added Glow to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream Zaritza‘s wider discography including When I Want It and That Girl.
