Setting the tone with a bold and dimensional energy, Buenos Diaz opens Cocaine Queen with intrigue and a retro guitar pop meets funk rock soundscape.
Immersing us with a narrative and the lyrics, “She placed a cocaine spell on me, pulled me into her imaginary popular scene, we flew through the moonlight into the early day, swimming through life alongside our mistakes…”, we are drawn into the subversive world that Buenos Diaz creates with the opus.
Speaking on the concept of the single, Buenos Diaz says, “We all chase something in life, endlessly. Success, fame, money, drugs, family, love, women, men, friends, rock n roll, whether we know it or not. Human nature seems to be at home in some form of addiction.”
We love the soundscape, and the melodic details which really elevate the sonic experience, creating a buzz in our heads not dissimilar to what you might experience with a narcotic. The psychedelia infused within the track, and during the instrumental segment, is out of this world, and we are fully hypnotized.
We learn that Buenos Diaz who is also known as Nick Diaz, performs on guitar, bass, keyboard, vocals, and percussion on the composition. Cocaine Queen was mixed by Houston engineer Dan Workman (whose repertoire ranges from Beyoncé to ZZ Top) and mastered by Grammy nominee Kevin Blackler.
We have added Cocaine Queen to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream the wider discography of Buenos Diaz including Dream.
