Setting the tone with bold hums, guitar chords and percussion details, Cindy-Louise opens her new single, Woman of My Own Damn Mind with the situational lyrics, “These legs don’t walk like they used to, these hips don’t move like they used to, this face don’t look like it used to, but that won’t bring me down…”
The empowering song expands into a vibrant blues-pop-rock soundscape with meaningful and thought-provoking lyrics which are inspiring. We appreciate the poetic nuance of the composition and the assertive hook, which is the title of the song.
Speaking on the message of the opus, Cindy-Louise confesses, “Woman of My Own Damn Mind is a shout-out to all those beautiful women out there who do not conform and direct their own lives.”
The rising artist from the Netherlands adds, “After the huge success and positivity received from my single Femme Fatale, I wanted to write another song that represented a powerful and independent woman that accepts her beauty and standards.”
We feel that energy come through and love Cindy-Louise‘s soaring vocals and the passion with which she delivers the anthem! On a personal note, Cindy-Louise says, “I have struggled so long with trying to be the “perfect woman” and as I get older the standards get higher and more difficult to reach. Then I stopped and thought, why do I even care? I just want to be myself and be happy.”
We have added Woman of My Own Damn Mind to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream Cindy-Louise‘s wider discography including Monster and My Fantasy.
