Setting the tone with a melodic rising synth, Richbreed open their new single, Overdose with the introspective lyrics, “I sing myself a lullaby, hoping it would ease my mind, I never was good with the truth…”
The opus expands with luscious vocal harmonies into a contemporary pop soundscape with an epic EDM-hybrid drop as Richbreed sing the hook, “I feel like I’m about to Overdose…”
We appreciate the energy, vulnerability and poetic prowess of the composition, and learn that the song “represents the critical mass we reach in our lives from the stress caused by social media and society.” The duo tell us that Overdose was also inspired by the loss of a friend that occurred due to this stress.
Richbreed is a pop-EDM group from Los Angeles that features vocalist Austin Kolbe (lead role on Netflix series “Westside”), Atla Gadret (from group Lucent Dossier) along with co-writer and Grammy nominated engineer Justin Bates.
The group is set to perform in Los Angeles at one of the upcoming Breaking Sound Events on August 17 at Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, and we can only imagine how epic Overdose will be to experience live!
Fans of Ed Sheeran, Calvin Harris and Daft Punk will definitely be able to connect with Richbreed‘s sound, but it is clear that they are creating a universe of their own.
We love the soundscape, passion and authenticity that Richbreed create with, and have added Overdose to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we stream their wider discography including Green and Passion Faded.
