Setting the tone with a rising texture, expanding into a luscious alternative pop-rock-hybrid soundscape, BETTY REED opens her new single, Without You with bold drums, electric guitar and a sense of intrigue.
Poetic lyricism builds a narrative of empowerment and independence from the rising artist as she tells the story of “prospering in life by breaking free from those who hold you back and then proving them wrong.”
Betty confesses, “[Without You] draws from actual experiences in my own life about people who you think would support you, but instead tear you down.”
She expands, “The meaning behind Without You is similar to my song, Karma, in that the best revenge against the naysayers is succeeding in life on your own terms. When people try to strip you of your confidence, it is very demoralizing. You have to claw back your dignity, which is no easy task.”
We appreciate the authenticity and depth that BETTY REED shares with her artistry, and the empowering nature of the opus. The electric guitar solos are also our of this world, adding substantial dimensionality to the composition.
Betty adds, “You, and only you, can be in charge of your destiny. It’s important to have a supportive people surround you, but I know that if I’m going to be successful, I have to put myself out there and take chances, and that is the essence of this song.”
We have added Without You to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we stream BETTY REED‘s wider discography including Drunk on You and Misunderstood.
