Setting the tone with atmospheric keys and dimensional bass, Sweeter than Sorrow opens his new single, Into the Night with the romantic lyrics, “Lay down your head and be still my love, come here and rest now my child, lay down your body and mind as one, oh into the night my love…”
The opus expands into a luscious acoustic meets indie pop hybrid and we are in awe. Coming in at a mathematically aligned 3 minutes 14 seconds, the song is inspired by the tragic death of close family member and an unexpected announcement of a new life.
The rising artist from Gothenburg in Sweden, describes Into the Night as “a lullaby that subtly tackles the weight of life.” Sweeter than Sorrow is singer-songwriter Mattias Wåhlberg’s solo music project. The composition also features Marcus Barck Sigvardsson on contrabass. We are hypnotized by the layered vocal harmonies.
We appreciate the authenticity and depth that Wåhlberg shares with Into the Night, it is haunting, meditative and simultaneous delivers a cathartic experience to both listener and artist.
We learn that the project aims to challenge the traditional macho-ideal stereotype, opening the discussion about men in our modern society. Sweeter Than Sorrow stands by LGBTQ+ communities and love for all.
Into the Night has been added to our New Music Spotlight, whilst we stream the first two singles from Sweeter than Sorrow, the bond and Like Water is Flowing.
